01/01/07 - 3D Technologies announces new licensing policy for ScanControl software.  ScanControl has been designed from the ground up to support many Uniden scanner models from within the same program.  A single copy of ScanControl today supports 16 different models.  This design affords our users the ability to use one piece of software to program, control and monitor all their radios, even if they have 2 or 3 different models.  Previously, our ScanControl licensing policy stated that a user had to buy one license per instance of software installed.  This meant if they wanted to operate 2 radios SIMULTANEOUSLY they had to install 2 instances of ScanControl and thus pay for 2 licenses.  Somehow, this policy seemed incongruous with the inherent design intention of the program.  So, we've decided to change our licensing policy to be on a per PC basis.  Now, one paid license will permit users to install multiple instances of ScanControl on a single PC in order to support SIMULTANEOUS programming, control and monitoring of multiple radios.  Of course, this type of configuration will require multiple available COM ports and separate instance installations.  Our Technical Support section will be updated shortly with some details on how this is done.  We believe this new policy is more consistent with the spirit of the original ScanControl design objectives and will better serve the interests of our users and the hobby.
